[The feed cuts in to the sound of stones grating together, of rocks sliding and falling, and of Toph shouting.]
What kind of wall is this?!
[She should have been able to tunnel through by now. She should be out. She should be free. Instead there is only a four foot ditch in the ground around the wall where she's been pummeling away and her breathing is coming fast and ragged. Oh, there's enough overturned earth and rock, to be sure. She doesn't care. It doesn't matter what she does to the ground. The wall itself? Doesn't have a scratch. And she should be out by now.]
Let! Me! Out! Of! Here!
[Every word is punctuated by the sound of flesh impacting on stone, of dull thunk of soil being displaced. It hurts. Bending's never hurt like this, not since she was little. She can feel the bruises rising on her forearms and knees, wrists and palms where she's struck the wall again and again and it still won't MOVE!]
Come on stone,
[Feet whisper through long grass, retreating and then rushing forward again.]
BUDGE!
[Stones tremble in the grass, but it's a subdued sound, far too small to be the sound of a wall coming down, like an afterthought on the tail of Toph's yelling.
She's silent now.
About thirty seconds later, the feed cuts out.]

[Audio]
[Just what was going on over there?]
[Audio]
[Yeah, that was meant to be an "I'm fine." But it kind of took her five minutes to crawl over and find her stupid book before she could reply.
She's got a splitting headache and there's something sticky in her hair. This... Wasn't a good idea.]
[Audio]
I guess not, huh? Is there anything I can do to help?
[Audio]
[She herself is talking to the grass more than her journal.]

*Aside from breaking shit, that much was obvious. And he's pretty sure he knows, but its easier if she says it.*
no subject
[Definitely not the best idea.]

I didn't miss. I hit it head on.

Is that the outside wall you're trying to take down? It won't do any good.

*Or that's what happened when Dastan went over it, through or under are probably the same.*

[She hasn't moved. She's still lying in the grass. Moving doesn't sound like fun.]

[Yeah, not she's just stalling so she doesn't have to do anything for a while.]
no subject
*Whatever persian was.*

[She's done with this fight.
Too tired. And her head hurts. She'll get him later. Or something.]
So, do you know where the healer is?
no subject
In the big building with the kitchen, on the first floor.
no subject
[With Toph? It's always a fight.]

[Commentlog]
He follows it when he finds it, tracking her down to the wall.]
[Commentlog]
Sollux told her where the infirmary was but she doesn't really feel like getting up right now. She can wait and go in a while.
She feels Derek's footfalls approaching, but doesn't really recognize that it's him until he's close.]
Hey...
[Commentlog]
[He can smell the blood, but there's not too much of it, so he doesn't try to get her to the infirmary right away. Instead, he just sinks down on the grass next to her.]
This the first time you tried to use the full extent of your abilities?
[Commentlog]
You think that's all I can do?
[She flicks a hand lazily at the wall.]
I'm the greatest earthbender there is. I could take down walls like that when I was seven. I can bend metal!
[She huffs a breath at her bangs, shifting the hair out of her face and ignoring where it was sticking to her scalp.]
[Commentlog]
Course not. That's why I said tried.
[He believes her. Or at least, he believes she could do that back on her world.]
Deior messes with us when we get here. Makes it so our abilities don't work right.
[Commentlog] YAY FOR NOT GETTING NOTIFS!
[Like she doesn't know that already.]
This's the first time I've busted out.
[Or, tried to. Whatever, she's not acknowledging the failure.]
I'll finish it.
[Later, after sleep. Although Sollux said she'd die.]
[Commentlog] LJ IS A DICK
[And she's doing a great job, too. You know, before she completely tired herself out.]
I doubt it's going to be that simple. Escaping never is.
[Not that he's actually tried here, but he has past escape attempts under his belt.]
[Commentlog]
[She throws her arms up in the air and then lets them flop back on the grass. Nobody has a plan. Not even a bad one.]
I miss Sokka.
[It's a reflex response, the kind of thing she'd rib Katara or Aang with when they couldn't come up with a plan. Or read a map. Or make a joke. Or understand hers. But the moment she's said it, it's true and she can't stop hearing his pumpkin's voice. Soon there's a hollow sensation in her gut to match the pounding in her head.
She rolls away so Derek can't see her face.]
